Shop http://www.eFashionHouse.com for below-retail priced authentic Designer Handbags!
by Anna Miller
It used to be available at the click of a mouse. Logon to your favorite search engine, type in the words discount designer handbag and become thrilled with an endless list of online resources for authentic designer fashion at discount prices. Discount designer handbags are becoming a thing of the past. That is, authentic high end designer purses are costing more and more every year. You may still be able to pay a few hundred dollars for a good fake bag, but authentic designer handbags are no longer a bargain.
Names like Chanel, Gucci, Fendi, Prada, Dior, Tods, etc. are considered the fashion bag icons, and in 2005, the average cost of one of these high end fashion bags was $2000 each. Since that time, the average cost has increased to about $3000 or more each. Fashionistas worldwide ask, "When is this going to stop?" Is it really fair to charge such a high price for a purse? Is it smart for the Designers to do price their items at unobtainable costs? The average woman, working an average job, making an average salary, supporting an average family can't pay $3000 for a new purse! But, nonetheless, she dreams about it, and probably even sheds a tear or two because she can't get the designer purse she wants.
The department stores are getting smarter, too. They don't overstock high end designer handbags making them a demand item vs. leftovers after the season ends. Sales are far and few in between. In 2006 and 2007 many stores had sales before December 25th with NO leftovers during the true Sale Season. Consumers are paying premium prices for leather, a logo, monogram and a designer name. They fear not getting what they want if they wait for a Sale!
Most people hate fakes and counterfeit merchandise, but the business is booming because the authentic merchandise is too expensive. Stores like Target and a few others are smart. They are featuring Designers to produce low-cost fashion merchandise to help circumvent counterfeiting. Let us hope this works. Counterfeiting is bad. More stores should follow in the footsteps of Target and offer low cost designer products.
The manufacturing costs and the increased value of the Euro have definitely influenced the cost of designer fashion handbags. If an item is made from Italian leather and manufactured in Italy, the cost is high. If the same item is made of Italian leather and manufactured (or assembled) in another country the final cost is lower. When we look at the items we want and compare prices we need to take the manufacturing process into consideration. Many people do not want a Burberry bag assembled in China. They want the same bag assembled (or made) in England. They don't realize the cost of the bag made in England has a much higher price tag than the exact same bag made in China.
Get ready for 2008. If you are a designer handbag addict like many of us are proud to proclaim, get ready to pay a higher price for a new purse in 2008. You may still be able to find the purse of your dreams at an off-retail price, but the price won't be as low as you have paid in the past.
If you purchase only authentic merchandise, there are online resources to fulfill your needs. When shopping online, look for a website with longevity and fast replies to emails. Ask questions before you buy. Many of the lower priced items are scarce or limited in availability. When you see something you want, don't wait too long to make a purchase or it may not be available the next time you visit the website.
Be careful not to fall prey to websites selling counterfeit designer handbags. Many of the sites say they are authentic, but they aren't. If you see a site selling current collection items at half price, please be careful. There is no way anyone (even the Designer) can sell their designer bags at half price.
If you are looking for a good price and need guidance, ask for help. If you are planning to purchase authentic designer handbags in 2008, plan to shop around for below retail prices. They will still be available, but not as easy to find as they were in the past.

| I would never rent a designer handbag |
| Sunday, December 23, 2007 |

By Woody Lee
In case you haven’t noticed, designer handbags have made headlines lately because of the rising costs, increased demand and crazed enthusiasm surrounding the latest “it” bags. As a self-professed designer handbag connoisseur, I am constantly on the look out for the latest handbag trends. There’s one trend in particular that irks me more than a row of fake Goyard and Chanel handbags on display on 5th Avenue – handbag rentals. The Media is hyped with coercing people into joining a designer handbag rental service to carry a designer handbag in lieu of actually purchasing one. Although renting can be a smart alternative in many situations (car rentals, apartment rentals, cabana rentals, etc.), handbag rentals are not exactly your best investment.
Like with living accommodations, financial advisors most often say buying makes for a sound investment because your money goes toward something that can one day recant its value or even make you money. Renting neither makes you more nor does it provide you with something to sell, so why would anyone “rent” an expensive designer handbag. A lot of people like the idea of renting their favorite handbags because it minimizes the high expense associated with purchasing one or they like the idea of carrying a new handbag every month. But wouldn’t you rather put the hundreds of dollars it costs to rent a handbag (rental, membership and shipping fees) toward saving for the handbag of your dreams, rather than put a lot of money (at least $200/month) toward something that you don’t even own? Personally, I like to look around for the best deal and use my money to add to my growing handbag collection. And for the fashionistas who want to carry a new handbag every week or month to maintain status, your friends and co-workers will know you don’t actually “own” the handbags and are merely throwing your money away.
In addition to throwing your money down the drain, people who rent handbags take the risk of ultimately paying for the handbag they rent at above-retail costs. For instance, if your rented handbag is lost or stolen (which happens often), the renter has to pay for the replacement cost which could be in the thousands of dollars. And don’t even get me started on damage fees when renting a bag. How many times have you been out to a bar and spilled on your brand new designer handbag or dropped it on the ground. Handbag rental services charge you for damage (other than normal wear and tear) to the handbag.
Despite a bad investment and the stress related to worrying about lost or theft of the rented handbag, one of the biggest concerns I have with renting a handbag is “germs.” When your rental handbag arrives, you have no idea who rented it beforehand. You have no idea what was carried inside the bag or where the bag had been prior to it arriving at your doorstep. Throughout the year there had been studies released about the many germs and bugs that thrive inside a handbag, including e-coli, salmonella, bacillus, superbugs and many more viruses. But what’s even worse than the fact that it is hard to have a germ-free bag, is that handbags pick up these germs from normal use (using public restrooms, dirty make-up bags, etc.). Now think about all the places rented handbags may have been -- you get the picture.
Plus there are many other options to renting a designer handbag which entail actually owning designer handbags such as:Shop around: There are a lot of web sites that offer today’s hottest names in designer handbags at discounted prices, like eFashionHouse and Overstock to name a few.
Take advantage of sales: most big name retailers have great sales throughout the year, and although the handbags aren’t as discounted as the online stores for discount designer handbags, you can still find a deal. Layaway: Some web sites, like BrandsBoutique, offer layaway plans so you can pay over time but still grab a handbag when you see it. Go Vintage: Vintage handbags are back in a big way. In fact some handbag websites are now offering vintage bags and even consider them premium inventory. So don’t waste money renting a pre-owned bag when you can purchase one for the same price as a rental! Visit online shops like luxuryvintage and jillsconsignment. Save: One of the smartest options to owning a must-have designer handbag is putting your money in a savings account until you have enough money to buy the handbag you want. Plus, once you are able to afford the designer bag, your investment item can be resold (today’s goods are tomorrow’s vintage). Some of the designer handbags resell at a higher cost than your investment.
If there is a designer handbag you are considering to get, but don’t have the money to spend to get it, think twice before using a handbag rental service. You might think you’re saving money, but in reality your investment actually has no pay off. | Handbag exhibit tells stories of the women behind the bags |
|
Article by Diana Dretske Daily Herald Columnist Suburban Chicago's Information Source
The new traveling exhibit, organized and toured by ExhibitsUSA, and supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities, takes a whimsical look at this artful accessory. By any name --handbag, purse or pocketbook -- this essential component of women's lives is more than a mere personal possession. More than 80 purses dating from the 1890s to 2006 are displayed, representing a wide range of colors, materials and styles. Many purses are what you would expect with their familiar iconic shape made of hand-tooled leather, plastic or embellished with jet black beading. Other purses break the mold completely such as novelty purses -- in the shape of poodles, champagne buckets, or birdcages -- which have gone in and out of style since the 1930s.
Simply put, a purse is a container for life's necessities, but it also reflects its owner's individuality.
During World War II (1941-1945), when everything from sugar to tires was rationed, women found a variety of ways to help the war effort including "recycling" purses by adding plastic cherries or a bit of ribbon to make an old purse seem new again. Some purses are a story in themselves. Take for instance the purse on loan from voice actor Nancy Cartwright, best known for her role as Bart Simpson on the popular animated TV series "The Simpsons." The "Ponderosa" purse was purchased because of the name association with the Cartwright family on TV's "Bonanza." Along with the western-themed purse, Nancy included a hand-drawn map of the Cartwright's Ponderosa.
For many women, the right handbag is essential to making the best impression. The owner of the Christian Dior leather bag on exhibit purchased the purse for $1,200 and carried it around the world to conduct international business. "Carrying the bag helped jump language barriers, and gave me an edge up," Casey Murphey said. "I was perceived as a successful businesswoman who was safe to do business with."
From designer handbags by Louis Vuitton to a homemade linen purse from the 1920s, "Pocketbook Anthropology" provides a colorful, story-filled exploration of the relationship between a woman and her handbag.
The museum is open every day except Christmas Day and New Year's Day, and the exhibition runs through Jan. 20. For hours, call (847) 968-3400. Labels: chanel, chanel handbag, christian dior, designer handbags, louis vuitton, luxury handbags and accessories |

| Chanel Hanbags are hotter than ever! |

Three cheers for CoCo Chanel! What a legacy! Read about the fashion icon, Coco Chanel, taken from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The picture of Coco Chanel was taken from Chanel.com. Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel (August 19, 1883 – January 10, 1971) was a pioneering French fashion designer whose modernist philosophy, menswear-inspired fashions, and pursuit of expensive simplicity made her arguably the most important figure in the history of 20th-century fashion. Her influence on haute couture was such that she was the only person in the field to be named on TIME Magazine's 100 most influential people of the 20th century.

She was born the second illegitimate daughter of traveling salesman Albert Chanel and Jeanne Devolle in the small city of Saumur, Maine-et-Loire, France. There was a mis-spelling on her birth certificate that was recorded her surname as 'Chasnel', making the tracing of her roots almost impossible for biographers when Chanel later rose to prominence. Coco was born in a poorhouse. Her birth was recorded the following day. Two employees of the hospice went to city hall and declared the child of feminine gender. The hospice employees were illiterate so when the mayor François Poitu wrote down the birth, no one knew how to spell Chanel so the mayor improvised and recorded it with an "s", making it Chasnel. Her parents married in 1883. She had five siblings: two sisters, Julie (1882-1913) and Antoinette (born 1887) and three brothers, Alphonse (born 1885), Lucien (born 1889) and Augustin (born and died 1891). In 1895, when she was 12 years old, Chanel's mother died; her father left the family a short time later. The young Chanel spent seven years in the orphanage of the Catholic monastery of Aubazine, where she learned the trade of a seamstress. School vacations were spent with relatives in the provincial capital of Moulins, where female relatives taught Coco to sew with more flourish than the nuns at the monastery were able to demonstrate. When Coco turned eighteen, she left the orphanage, and took up work for a local tailor.
It was at the tailor shop where she met and soon began an affair with the English playboy Étienne Balsan. While living with Balsan, Coco began designing hats as a hobby. The hats immediately caught the attention of the female Parisian élite, and provided Coco with a path toward earning financial independence for herself. With the aid of Balsan and another rich lover Arthur "Boy" Capel (d. 21 December 1919 in a motor accident), Coco was able to acquire the property and financial backing to open her own millinery shop, in 1909, called ‘Chanel Modes’, at 31 rue Cambon in Paris. Her hats were worn by celebrated French actresses, which helped to establish her reputation. Chanel introduced in 1913 women’s sportswear at her new boutique in Deauville, France, in the Rue Gounaut-Biron; Marthe, Countess de Gounaut-Biron, (daughter of American diplomat John George Alexander Leishman) was Chanel's first aristocratic client. Later in life, Coco Chanel concocted an elaborate false history for her humble beginnings. She would steadfastly claim that when her mother died, her father sailed for America and she was sent to live with two cold-hearted spinster aunts. She even claimed to have been born in 1893 as opposed to 1883, and that her mother had died when Coco was 6, instead of twelve. She never married. All this was done in order to diminish the stigma that poverty and orphanhood bestowed upon unfortunates in nineteenth century France.
The Chanel Empire The influential Chanel suit, launched in 1923, it was an elegant suit comprising a knee-length skirt and trim, boxy jacket, traditionally made of woven wool with black trim and gold buttons and worn with large costume-pearl necklaces. Coco Chanel also popularized the little black dress, whose blank-slate versatility allowed it to be worn for day and evening, depending on how it was accessorized. Although unassuming black dresses existed before Chanel, the ones she designed were considered the haute couture standard.[citation needed] In 1923, she told Harper's Bazaar that "simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance." Chanel always kept the clothing she designed simple and comfortable. She took what were considered poor fabrics like jersey and upgraded them.
Later Years For more than 30 years, Gabrielle Chanel made the Hôtel Ritz Paris her home, even during the Nazi occupation of Paris. During that time she was criticized for having an affair with Hans Gunther von Dincklage, a German officer who arranged for her to remain in the hotel. She also maintained an apartment above her Rue Cambon couture house and built Villa La Pausa in the town of Roquebrune on the French Riviera. However, she spent her later years in Paris, France (Hotel Ritz Paris) where she was buried. Her tombstone is carved with stone lion heads representing her birth sign, Leo.

Chanel designer handbags are hotter than ever! Did Coco ever realize the impact she would make on fashion?

| Designer handbag bag back woes |
|

by Jen Melocco
OVERSIZED and overstuffed handbags are giving women a bad case of "bag back" as the average weight of bags reaches 2.3kg. Sydney chiropractors report seeing an increasing number of women developing spinal problems as they carry the weight of the world in bigger bags. "It is becoming a very common problem but one that develops very subtly," Macquarie University Department of Health and Chiropractic senior lecturer Peter Tuchin said. The increased load comes as big bags have become the latest fashion trend and busy women try to stuff more, including multiple electronic gadgets, into their bags. A UK study released this week by British retail chain ASDA found the average women's bag now weighs in at 2.4kg, an increase in weight of 38 per cent over the past five years.
And the future isn't looking rosier with predictions women will be lugging about bags of 3kg within a decade. Beth MacGraw of Edgelciff said she has become a victim of bad back syndrome as she packs her "essentials" into her giant designer Luella Bartley bag. "At the minimum I carry a book, sunglasses, umbrella, iPod, phone, camera and make-up bag," she said. "I make sure I have all things at all times. And the more room I have in the bag I'll always fill it." She said she was also willing to carry her supersize style bag, with heavy charms attached, in the name of fashion.
"I just try to change my bag from arm to arm because I am conscious that it's probably not that good for me," she said. Dr Tuchin said women should be alert to the hazards of heavier bags as the first symptoms were subtle. "People often don't notice a problem building up until its gets really bad," he said. "Early detection is the key." Symptons can include shoulder pain, neck tension, headache and, left untreated, curvature of the spine. Chiropractor Fiona Norman said she was seeing an increasing number of women with problems caused by carrying overloaded bags.
"Part of it is just that women are busy and we carry everything with us," Mrs Norman said. She suggested women unburden their load by clearing out their bag regularly and spreading the weight into two bags or a backpack. Double Bay chiropractor Zoe James said it was best to balance the load of a heavy bag on shoulders rather than at the elbow, which could not bear as much weight. "If you carry a bag on an unsupported elbow after three seconds this causes fatigue on the body," she said. Labels: designer fashion brands, designer handbags, efashionhouse, purses |

| eFashionHouse.com Supports Ongoing Designer Handbag Trends |
| Friday, December 21, 2007 |
Selling online for over twelve years, eFashionHouse.com, named Best of the Web by People StyleWatch Magazine for discount designer handbags announces continued strategies for upcoming designer handbag demands.Desert Hot Springs, CA (PRWEB) September 7, 2007 -- Designer handbag trends are strong, and the demands for lower prices will become stronger in the near future. In 2004, the average cost of a new high-end designer handbag sold at a high-end department store was about $2000. Today, with the increased designer handbag trends and the strong Euro value, the average cost in the same high-end department stores has risen to about $2500 to $3000 for a new designer purse.
The prices are increasing and so are the pressures to buy new handbags. Some people have become desperate enough to rent a designer purse. But researchers like ABC News Consumer Correspondent Elizabeth Leamy and chemical biologists have shown bacteria found on a handbag are enough to make a person sick. In an article published in August 2006, Leamy documents the high risk of bacteria lurking in a used handbag. Renting or borrowing a purse may not be very smart, especially with the high cost of healthcare these days.
Pressures increase because teens and young adults seek style and fashion from celebrities who carry purses costing thousands of dollars -- some costing as much as the homes where average kids live. Today, parents are faced with providing not only the finances for education, but with the growing demands of providing high-end designer fashion accessories as well.
The eFashionHouse.com mission has remained consistent since its conception in the early 1990’s. “Our goal is to provide a resource for people to own high end designer fashion accessories without paying full retail price,” said Anna Miller, eFashionHouse.com owner. eFashionHouse.com has fulfilled more than 100K customer orders over the past twelve years providing authentic designer merchandise at below retail prices. The average eFashionHouse.com sale is between $200 - $300. The price of the more expensive eFashionHouse bags sell for around $1000. Their strategy allows them to sell at discounts of 25% to 60% off the full retail prices.
eFashionHouse.com announced today new strategies to continually provide resources for people to obtain designer merchandise without having to refinance their homes. A new layaway plan is being implemented which provides people an opportunity to design their own payment plan according to their budget. Establishing new and stronger resources for sourcing authentic designer merchandise within the USA have been achieved and implemented this past year. EFashionHouse.com covers all sales tax for its USA customers, and provides free domestic shipping on the majority of its orders.
eFashionHouse.com is committed to supporting the ongoing designer handbag trends by continuing to provide an easily assessable, convenient and safe online resource for high-end authentic designer merchandise at off retail prices. Their twelve-year track record in today’s ecommerce market is a good indication of eFashionHouse.com’s ability to continually support the strong designer handbag needs and trends.

The last time I drove to the mall to shop, I couldn't find a parking place. It took me over 30 minutes to finally squeeze my VW Beetle into a space next to a dumpster in the north forty! After walking until my legs ached, with my arms and shoulders full, I finally gave up and dragged myself back to the car, stuffed everything inside and drove home. I was exhausted.
